About Maria

Maria Schmidt is an ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist licensed to practice in the state of Utah. She is trained in patient-directed myofascial release/manual therapy for treatment of voice and swallowing disorders. She pursued further graduate specialty training and a certificate through the University of Utah’s Vocology Institute and the National Center of Voice and Speech. Maria received her Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Utah State University with expertise in voice, swallow rehabilitation and developmental speech and language disorders. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Utah Valley University in Elem Ed with an emphasis is music and singing, and a 2nd bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Communication Disorders and Deaf Education.

As a classically trained singer, Maria has performed throughout her life both professionally and semi-professionally, individually, in groups and with family, and enjoys a variety of vocal styles from classical to pop. For many years in the community and schools, she loved directing children’s performing groups and musical theater, teaching voice and piano. Through voice therapy, Maria has overcome personal vocal injury and has a passion for helping others heal their injured voice. Maria enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren and serving in her church and community.
