Rhinoplasty Myths

Myth #1- Can any plastic surgeon can perform rhinoplasty? Yes, any plastic surgeon can do the surgery, but it is much better to get a specialist with lots of experience in a specific field of plastic surgery for the best results.
Myth #2- Do only women have rhinoplasty? It is true that more women than men have plastic surgery, but men and women are equally self-conscious about their appearance. Therefore, men and women both have an equal rate of considering nose surgeries.
Myth #3- Is rhinoplasty a painful procedure? This is not true. Rhinoplasty is performed under general or local anesthesia, so there is no pain during the procedure. You will be given pain medication to ensure comfort after the procedure.
Myth #4- Can rhinoplasty cause breathing issues? If you have a qualified surgeon perform the procedure, there will not be any permanent issues with the functionality of your nose or your ability to breathe. It should in fact correct any breathing issues as it opens up and reconstructs your nasal passages.
Myth #5- Will rhinoplasty create a fake looking nose> If you choose a qualified surgeon, you can be sure your nose will not look fake. The right surgeon will give you a natural looking result and most people won’t be able to tell that you had any work done.
Myth #6- Can plastic surgeons create a celebrity’s nose. If a plastic surgeon tells you they can replicate a celebrity’s nose, you should move on to another surgeon. The point is to improve your appearance, not to make it look like someone else’s. Someone else’s nose might not look good on you.
Myth #7- Does insurance covers rhinoplasty? Insurance will cover the cost if it’s to correct urgent physical issues. It will not cover the cost if it’s simply to change your appearance. If the surgery is for medical and superficial reasons, your insurance may cover part of the cost.
